The maker

One studio, two wheels, and a kiln that runs most days.

Kiln started on a kitchen table with a borrowed wheel and a stubborn idea: that the plates you eat off every day should be made by someone, not stamped out by the thousand. Ten years on, every piece still passes through real hands before it reaches yours.

Each piece is shaped on the wheel from British stoneware clay, so the weight and curve feel considered, never flimsy.

We mix our own glazes in the studio. The warm terracotta and soft oat tones shift gently from piece to piece.

The things people ask before they buy.

How do I care for my Kiln ware?

Easy. Every piece is dishwasher and oven safe. For a long life we suggest avoiding sudden extremes (do not take a piece straight from the freezer into a hot oven) and skipping the microwave for any pieces with a metallic accent. A soft cloth keeps the glaze looking its best.

Why does my set look slightly different from the photos?

Because a person made it. Each piece is thrown and glazed by hand, so small variations in tone, height and the curve of a rim are completely normal and, we think, the whole point. Your set will be its own. Pieces are designed to sit together as a family, not as identical clones.

How long does delivery take?

In stock pieces ship within 2 to 3 working days, with free UK delivery on orders over £40. Because everything is made in small batches, occasionally a glaze sells out and is marked "back in the kiln" with the next firing date shown. Everything is packed by hand to arrive safely.

What does the lifetime replacement actually cover?

If a piece breaks in normal home use, we will replace it for the lifetime of the design, within reason. That covers the everyday knocks of real life. It does not cover deliberate damage or loss, and replacements depend on the glaze still being in production. Just send us a photo and we will sort it.

Can I return a set if it is not for me?

Of course. You have 60 days to return unused pieces in their original box for a full refund. If something arrives damaged in transit, send a photo and we will replace it straight away, no return needed.

We make tableware to last, and we stand behind it. If a piece breaks in everyday use, we replace it for the lifetime of the design, within reason. Try your set for 60 days, and if it is not right, send it back for a full refund.

Lifetime replacement applies to ordinary domestic use and depends on the glaze remaining in production. It does not cover loss or deliberate damage. Full terms are on our guarantee page.
