It started with a watch that stopped.
Our founder inherited his grandfather's watch. It had stopped years earlier and sat forgotten in a drawer, wound down and quiet.
He took it to an old workshop expecting bad news. Instead the watchmaker cleaned it, oiled it, regulated it, and handed it back running as if it were new. That single watch, made in the fifties, was ready to keep time for another fifty years. It only needed someone willing to care for it.
That was the moment. Most modern watches are built to be replaced, not repaired: sealed, throwaway, forgotten within a season. Meridian was founded in 2014 to build the opposite. A mechanical watch made to be serviced, worn every day, and one day passed on with a name engraved on the back.
