Made slowly,
on purpose.

Brae began with a simple frustration: too much clothing, too little worth keeping. So we build backwards from the cloth, with mills and makers we know by name.

Elin Brae, founder, working in soft daylight in the Porto atelier
A quiet workroom where a Brae overshirt is pressed by hand in daylight

It started with one overshirt that refused to wear out.

After a decade inside fast fashion, our founder Elin kept coming back to a single overshirt she had made for herself at a kitchen table in Lisbon. Years of wear only made it better. Everything else in the wardrobe came and went. That one piece stayed.

So Brae was built around a stubborn idea: make a little, make it honestly, and make it to last. We start with the fibre, work with the same small mills season after season, and let the cloth decide the cut.

We make a little, and we make it to last.

  • Founded in 2016, still independent and founder led
  • Made in small runs in Porto and Biella, never overstocked
  • Low impact dyes in a considered palette of seven tones

Made in four places, by people we know by name.

Follow a Brae piece from raw fibre to a garment repaired for life. Every stop is a mill or workshop we visit, not a name on a label. Choose a place to explore it.

The design studio

Every piece begins here as a sketch, a swatch and a fit we argue over for months. Nothing leaves the room until it earns a place in a wardrobe you actually reach for.

Seven tones, one paletteFit tested on real bodies

Full provenance recorded on every order

What we will not compromise on.

Three promises we build into every single piece, from the fibre up.

Fibre before trend

GOTS certified organic cotton and fully traceable merino, chosen for how they wear in year five, not how they photograph on day one.

Small runs, never overstocked

We make in limited batches and stop. It means the edit you want will not always be in stock, and it means nothing we make ends up in a landfill sale.

Repaired, never replaced

Reinforced seams, replaceable buttons and complimentary repairs for as long as you own the garment. The most sustainable piece is the one you keep.

Ten years of making less, better.

The moments that shaped a small studio, told in the order they happened.

A note from our founder.

I did not set out to build a fashion brand. I set out to make the few things I would actually want to wear for the next ten years.

We keep Brae small on purpose. It lets us know our mills by name, pay them properly, and stand behind every seam. If a piece wears out before its time, that is our failure to fix, not yours to replace.

Thank you for choosing to buy less, and to buy better. It is the whole reason we are here.

Quiet, considered and honest. Nothing shouts, everything works together. Two years in and the overshirt has only got better. This is how I want to dress now.
