Privacy Policy

Last updated: [publication date]

This is a starting template and not legal advice. Have it reviewed by a qualified professional before relying on it. Replace the bracketed placeholders with your own details.

This policy explains what personal data Sellblocks (operated by Jackson Mills, a sole trader trading as Sellblocks) collects when you visit our website or buy our Shopify themes and sections, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.

1. Who we are

Sellblocks is a digital-product business that sells premium, conversion-built Shopify themes and sections. For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) and, where it applies, the EU GDPR, the data controller is Jackson Mills, trading as Sellblocks, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. Sellblocks is operated by Jackson Mills, a sole trader trading as Sellblocks. You can reach us about anything in this policy at hello@getsellblocks.com.

Sellblocks is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Shopify Inc.

2. What we collect, and how

We try to collect as little as possible. Depending on how you use the site, that includes:

  • Checkout and order information (via Lemon Squeezy): our checkout is run by our merchant of record, Lemon Squeezy, LLC, which collects the details it needs to sell to you, such as your name, email address, billing address and country, and payment details. Your card details go directly to Lemon Squeezy and its payment processor; Sellblocks never sees or stores your full card number. Lemon Squeezy shares a limited set of order data back with us, such as your name, email address, the product you bought, and an order reference, so we can deliver support and keep a record of the sale.
  • Support and contact-form messages: if you contact us through the site's contact form or by email, we receive your name, your email address, and the contents of your message, so we can help and keep a record of the conversation.
  • Email and updates: your email address and related preferences if you ask us for updates, a receipt, or product support.
  • Analytics and technical data: aggregated, mostly anonymised information such as pages viewed, approximate region, device type, and referring site, plus standard server logs (including IP address) used for security and troubleshooting.

We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16, and our products are intended for business and professional use.

3. Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record

When you buy from us, the sale itself is made through Lemon Squeezy, LLC, which acts as the seller and merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy processes your payment, handles VAT and sales tax, delivers your files and licence key, and issues your receipt. For the personal data you give at checkout, Lemon Squeezy determines how it handles that data as part of running the sale and processing payment, and its use of your data is governed by the Lemon Squeezy privacy policy, which we encourage you to read. We use the limited order data Lemon Squeezy passes to us only to deliver your purchase, provide support, and meet our legal obligations.

4. Cookies and consent

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Strictly necessary: these keep the site working and remember choices like your selected display currency. They do not require consent.
  • Analytics: these help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it. Where required by law, we ask for your consent before setting them, and you can decline without losing access to the site.

You can manage or clear cookies at any time through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the site work. The Lemon Squeezy checkout may set its own cookies when you buy; those are covered by the Lemon Squeezy privacy and cookie policies.

5. Lawful basis (UK GDPR and EU GDPR)

When UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on the following lawful bases:

  • Contract: to process your order, deliver your download, and provide support for what you bought.
  • Legitimate interests: to keep the site secure, prevent fraud, understand aggregate usage, and improve our products, balanced against your rights.
  • Consent: for optional analytics cookies and for any marketing emails, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • Legal obligation: to keep records we are required to keep, such as tax and accounting records.

6. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us run the business, and only as far as they need it:

  • Merchant of record and payments: Lemon Squeezy, LLC, to sell to you, take payment, deliver your purchase, issue receipts, handle tax, and process refunds.
  • Email provider: to send transactional emails, such as receipts and support replies, and, with your consent, occasional product updates.
  • Hosting and infrastructure: to serve the website and store files and logs securely.
  • Analytics provider: to give us aggregate, privacy-respecting usage insights.

Each provider is bound to protect your data and use it only as agreed. Some of these providers, including Lemon Squeezy, are based outside the UK and EEA; where personal data is transferred internationally, we and they rely on appropriate safeguards, such as an adequacy decision, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or standard contractual clauses. We may also disclose data where the law requires it.

7. How long we keep it

We keep personal data only for as long as we need it:

  • Order records: for as long as required to provide your purchase and meet our legal and tax obligations (in the UK, tax records are generally kept for six years).
  • Support messages: for a reasonable period after your query is resolved, then deleted or anonymised.
  • Marketing contacts: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.
  • Analytics and logs: in aggregate or for a limited retention window, after which they are deleted or fully anonymised.

8. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Ask us to delete your data where there is no overriding reason to keep it.
  • Restrict or object to certain processing, including direct marketing.
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@getsellblocks.com. We will respond within the timeframe set by applicable law (one month under the UK GDPR). Because Lemon Squeezy holds the checkout and payment data as merchant of record, some requests about that data may need to be made to Lemon Squeezy, and we will point you in the right direction. If you are in the UK or EU and are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to your local data protection authority; in the UK, that is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

9. How we protect your data

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable providers, to protect your data against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to keep risk low.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our product or the law changes. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will take reasonable steps to let you know.
